Session Formats

Focus Sessions
  • Oral sessions can be up to 180 min
  • Poster sessions can be up to 45 min
  • Oral presentation timing is 10 min + 2 min Q&A (subject to minor adjustment after registration by the convener)
  • Poster sessions include a 3-minute introduction (pitch talk) for each poster, followed by an open discussion
Lightning Sessions
  • Only oral presentations of 3 min + 2 min Q&A each (held consecutively).
  • Max. of 4 slides (PPTX or PDF) allowed.
  • This session format focuses on briefly showcasing research ideas, projects, or preliminary results.
  • The remaining time at the end of the session may be used for open discussion and exchange among presenters and participants in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.
Workshops
  • Workshops can be up to 180 min
  • Workshop moderators set presentation lengths (max 7 min each); at least 1/3 of the workshop is reserved for discussion.
Synthesis Workshops
  • Synthesis workshops can be up to 180 min with short introductions and comprehensive discussions on overarching questions
  • Synthesis Workshops will be scheduled after focus sessions that are assigned to the workshop
  • Conveners of assigned focus sessions are invited to briefly report on session outcomes at the beginning
Side Events
  • Events thematically connected to #RMC but organized by third parties
  • Contents, methods and target groups fully open
  • Invited only, #RMC participants only or public with option for external registration
  • Formats may also include excursions or field trips
  • Option(s) to provide drinks and/or snacks
  • Organisation of the events is supported by #RMC organizers
